Algerian international since October 14 and a match against Uganda, Luca Zidane, who decided to represent the country of origin of his father Zinédine, will experience some great adventures with the Greens in the coming months. Algeria is one of the favorites for the 2025 African Cup of Nations in Morocco (December 21, 2025-January 18, 2026) then will prepare for the 2026 World Cup in North America (June 11-July 19).

The second son of “Zizou” quickly won his place in Vladimir Petkovic’s group and some followers imagine him to soon compete with Alexis Guendouz, the current number 1. The player trained at Real Madrid is praised for his kicking game, while the goalkeeper trained at AS Saint-Etienne, who plays at MC Alger, is precisely putting his team in difficulty when restarting.

Luca Zidane will be called up for the CAN (deadline December 11 for sending lists to CAF), but he is suddenly in danger in his Liga 2 club, Granada. The native of Marseille was injured in the adductor muscles three weeks ago (which caused him to miss a second cape with Algeria) and returned to the sidelines of the Andalusian team last weekend against Théo Zidane’s Cordoba (1-1).

As indicated by the local press, Zidane could again be one of the substitutes this Saturday afternoon (4:15 p.m.), on the pitch of Cultural Leonesa, in Léon (northern Spain). The Nazaries coach, Pacheta (Villarreal coach in 2023), is satisfied with the last three matches of Ander Astralaga, a promising 21-year-old goalkeeper, starter for Barça B last season and on loan from the Blaugrana.

The trip to Granada on behalf of the 16th day of
segunda division is crucial since Luca Zidane’s team is only 20th in the standings (out of 22) and faces the 11th which has four more points. If the new Algerian international no longer plays in Liga 2, his promotion as a starter for the Algerian team seems compromised for the moment.
