A former OM player completely amazed by De Zerbi: “It’s incredible”

Following his stormy departure from OM, Adrien Rabiot returned to Italy, where he remembers the fascination of his former coach, Roberto De Zerbi, for the round ball and the green rectangle.

A year after his free departure from Juventus Turin for Olympique de Marseille, Adrien Rabiot bounced back with AC Milan. A transfer which comes after a violent altercation that occurred within the Marseille club between the French midfielder and his former teammate Jonathan Rowe.

Despite this eventful end to his adventure with OM, the 2022 world vice-champion nevertheless retains good memories of his time at Canebière. Among them, his daily life under the orders of Marseille coach Roberto De Zerbi, passionate about football to the point of obsession.

“De Zerbi is crazy about football”

“What do I remember from De Zerbi? Last year we had a good season. De Zerbi is crazy about football, and when he left the training center, he went home to watch all the matches. The next day, perhaps while talking about tactics, he asked us: “Who watched the match yesterday?” Have you noticed that… “It’s incredible”confided Rabiot in the columns of the Gazzetta dello Sport.

Now under contract with the Rossoneri until June 2028, the native of Saint-Maurice has so far only played six matches with AC Milan, for one assist. He suffered a calf injury the day before the qualifying match for the 2026 World Cup between France and Iceland (2-2) on October 13. The former Parisian made his return this Sunday during the success against Inter (1-0) in Serie A during the Madonnina derby.
