The Portuguese midfielder from PSG, who scored a hat-trick, is now very popular in London.
A future Ballon d’Or?
Thomas Frank was particularly admiring of the Portuguese’s talent, author of two superb strikes to equalize twice, then a penalty:
“Wow, what a player,” he exclaimed at a press conference. “We played against a good team, with a Ballon d’Or (Ousmane Dembélé) and maybe the next one… Vitinha, wow, what a player.”
The Danish coach still wanted to welcome the reaction of his own players: “ I liked our performance, that’s the reaction I wanted, we bounced back” after the heavy defeat at Arsenal (4-1).
Praises from Luis Enrique and Marquinhos
PSG coach Luis Enrique also praised his player’s excellence, including after a defensive error:
“Vitinha was sensational today, extraordinary, as usual I want to say. The best thing was when he missed (and lost a ball which led to London’s third goal) and he wanted to score the third goal” from the penalty spot.
Captain Marquinhos, who was celebrating his 500th match with PSG, also received praise from Willian Pacho and Luis Enrique, the latter calling him a “master in midfield” who “controls our game” and “set the tempo”.
