The French Football Federation was the subject of a large-scale cyberattack this Thursday which corrupted the data of numerous clubs and affiliated footballers. After reacting quickly, the FFF issued a press release to share the information.

It is through administrative management software made available to clubs by the FFF that the qualified offensive “
cyber malicious act » having led to « data theft » was carried out. “ Name, first name, gender, date and place of birth, nationality, postal address, email address, telephone number and license number » targeted licensees were thus hacked.

The FFF services, upon detection of this unauthorized access through the use of a compromised account, took the necessary measures to secure the software and data, in particular by immediately deactivating the account in question and resetting all user account passwords. », Informs the FFF.

Already three attacks in less than two years

A complaint was filed and the competent authorities were alerted, reports the federation, referring to the National Agency for Information Systems Security (ANSSI) and the National Commission for Information Technology and Liberties (CNIL).

This is already the third time in the space of two years that the French Football Federation has been cyberattacked. In March 2024, “ 1.5 million data of its licensees had potentially been collected according to the prosecution », recalls Le Parisien.
