A year and then gone. This summer, Adrien Rabiot (30 years old) left OM after only one season. His fight with Jonathan Rowe led to his return to Italy, this time to AC Milan. A club that had been flirting with him for a while, as he admitted to the Gazzetta dello Sport. “Milan had already approached me last year, when I was free from any contract, and we had discussed. Would the team have done better than eighth with me? I don’t know, but given our current results, I would say that I arrived at Milanello at the right time. The Rossoneri also wanted me in July, when I was in Marseille, but it was difficult for me to leave. After this incident (the episode in the locker room with Rowe, editor’s note), other Italian clubs contacted me, but I knew what I wanted. Allegri said to me: “We’ll see…” and something happened. I don’t know how he does it, but he also has a gift for… predicting the future (laughs, editor’s note).”

The midfielder, who was therefore flirted with by the Rossoneri when everything was still going well at OM, then returned to his relationship with the coach and his season. “He’s a winner, and I love his personality, his coaching style, his passion for football and his ambition. He always gives his all, and I share his way of thinking. Off the pitch, he is always very positive, he makes jokes and calms us down. (…) I feel like I am more of a leader and more mature, but I have not yet reached my full potential: as long as I play, I strive to progress each season. Last season, for example, was important for me and I think I made further progress. It’s the same thing in recent months at AC Milan: I pay attention to details, I carefully study the videos of my opponents and my own. And when I see in these images that I’m doing something good that I maybe didn’t do before… that makes me happy.” The message got through.
