Present at a press conference after the victory against Tottenham (5-3) in the Champions League, Luis Enrique was questioned about a debate which regularly agitates European football: the alleged superiority of Premier League and La Liga clubs over the rest of the continent. The PSG coach initially dodged the question with humor: “ I don’t know, I won’t answer… », before recalling that he refused any hasty generalization. For him, it is much too early to establish a clear hierarchy between European championships.
Luis Enrique then stressed that the sporting truth would reveal itself “in March”when the final stages of the Champions League really started. Clearly, the Spanish technician assures that each season brings its share of surprises and that the competitiveness of the teams depended more on the current form than on the prestige of a championship. As a reminder, PSG (French team) eliminated Manchester City, Liverpool, Aston Villa and Arsenal last year, before beating Barça and therefore Tottenham this season.
