The intervention of former French international and consultant Samir Nasri during the Canal Champions Club, concerning the domestic violence affair involving OM striker Mason Greenwood, went very badly.

While OM had just won a huge and prestigious success against Newcastle in the Champions League on Tuesday evening, former Olympian Samir Nasri, known for his outspokenness, had a great exit from the road. A slip-up which did not remain without consequences, particularly on social media.

The Greenwood affair is in the news again

Questioned on the domestic violence case which has followed the young English striker Mason Greenwood for five years, the player who played notably at Arsenal and Manchester City called for leniency, centering his argument on the forgiveness of the alleged victim (Greenwood’s partner, who as a reminder, withdrew the charges in this case):

Nasri gets noticed again

If she forgave him… who are we to judge?
he thundered. If his wife has forgiven him, he can be forgiven. If she hadn’t forgiven him, been found guilty and had this sentence in England, I would have said it was normal. »

These comments, which were controversial to say the least, were met with a wave of virulent criticism from Internet users, who expressed their disapproval of the minimization of domestic violence. An Internet user did not hesitate to mention the Pierre Menes affair.

As a reminder, Marseille coach Roberto De Zerbi himself defended the English player at a press conference before the match against the Magpies. “ I never go into the private lives of players. But what I can say is that he is a good person. He paid a high price for what happened“, declared the Italian coach, referring to accusations of attempted rape and assault by his partner in 2022 before the charges were dropped by the courts
