Beaten by Liverpool (1-0) in its last Champions League match, Real Madrid travels to Greece this Wednesday (9 p.m.) to challenge Olympiakos. A meeting for which Xabi Alonso will have to deal with many absentees.
In addition to the already known injured Dani Carvajal, Eder Militao, Antonio Rüdiger, David Alaba and Franco Mastantuono, the Madrid coach will be deprived of Thibaut Courtois. The 33-year-old Belgian goalkeeper suffers from gastroenteritis and will not make the trip to Piraeus.
Huijsen also forfeits against Girona
But that’s not all. Dean Huijsen is also out. The Spanish defender finished this weekend’s match against Elche (2-2) injured. And tests taken by the player revealed a minor injury to his quadriceps, according to Marca.
Dean Huijsen’s unavailability is estimated to be between 7 and 10 days. The former Bournemouth will therefore also miss the Merengue’s trip to Girona on Sunday, and is doubtful for next Wednesday’s match on the pitch at Athletic Bilbao.
