Relations between the Professional Football League and beIN Sports are more tense than ever. In the coming days, the two parties must face each other in court. The Franco-Qatari channel is demanding 29 million euros in compensation from the LFP, contesting the allocation of matches reserved for it each Saturday of the championship.

At the same time, beIN Sports is discussing with Canal+, holder of all the rights to the Champions League until 2031, in order to obtain some C1 matches. A move which comes as the channel has confirmed its decision to no longer broadcast Ligue 1 from next season.

This situation worries the 18 elite clubs. Today, the Qatari broadcaster pays 78.5 million euros per season. But according to the latest information, a full takeover of this lot by Ligue 1+ seems to be ruled out. According to the media
The Informedthe shadow of Amazon Prime Video will once again hover over Ligue 1, with the ambition of recovering the ninth match soon.

Amazon’s plan B

If no official negotiations have started at this stage, the American giant has already expressed its interest in this poster abandoned by beIN Sports. An offensive made all the more credible as Amazon recently emerged empty-handed from the UEFA call for tenders for European competitions. Ligue 1+ subscribers could therefore turn to Prime Video for Saturday afternoon’s poster.

After having won a large part of the NBA rights to the detriment of beIN Sports, Amazon could strike another big blow. But the competition promises to be tough. This Ligue 1 match attracts several international players, including Paramount+, determined to establish a lasting presence on the French market.
