CR7 is fixed. During the last international window, Cristiano Ronaldo received a red card during Portugal’s defeat in Ireland (2-0), on November 13, on behalf of the 5e qualifying day for the 2026 World Cup.
While the Lusitanians were trailing 2-0 after a double from Troy Parrott (17th, 45th+1), the Al-Nassr striker was sent off after delivering a violent elbow to Dara O’Shea’s back. Initially penalized with a yellow, the five-time Ballon d’Or finally saw the card turn red after viewing the VAR.
A very bad gesture which raised fears of a heavy suspension for the former Madrilenian. The possibility of seeing him deprived of the start of the 2026 World Cup could not even be ruled out. But ultimately, the Portuguese star is doing very well.
Ronaldo got hot
According to the Spanish press agency EFE, Cristiano Ronaldo only received one small match and two suspended sentences. A match suspension that he has already served during the Seleçao’s offensive festival against Armenia (9-1). It will therefore be available from the next international break in March 2026.
Note that this is the very first red card received by the 40-year-old striker in 226 caps (143 goals) with Portugal.
