After crushing Atalanta Bergamo on the previous day, Sassuolo (9th) received Pisa (17th) at the Mapei Stadium to close the 12th day of Serie A. A meeting which started badly for the Neroverdi who conceded a penalty in the first minutes, transformed by ex-Lensois M’Bala Nzola (4th, 0-1). A very short-lived advantage since the locals equalized thanks to another former Ligue 1 resident, Nemanja Matić (6th, 1-2). The rest of the first act was marked by the ineffectiveness of the two teams in bringing real danger into the opposing area.

In the second half, Fabio Grosso’s Sassuolo pushed and increased the attacks on Adrian Semper’s cage. Finally, Domenico Berardi’s teammates were surprised by the visitors with a goal from former Rennais Henrik Meister (81st, 1-2). But while Alberto Gilardino’s team thought it would be a second success in a row, Kristian Thorstvedt snatched the point from a draw in the last second of added time (90th +5, 2-2). Sassuolo remains stuck in 9th position, five points behind Como (6th), while Pisa climbs to 14th place in the ranking.
