On the eve of the crucial Champions League match against Newcastle on Tuesday evening (9 p.m.), OM’s English striker, Mason Greenwood, is the center of attention.

His coach, Roberto De Zerbi, expressed all the good things they think of him, despite past controversies.

Greenwood has had a very good start to the campaign, leading the Ligue 1 scorers and having reached the symbolic mark of ten goals this weekend, notably thanks to his double against Nice.

De Zerbi: “He’s a good person”

Questioned at a press conference, Roberto De Zerbi defended his player, alluding to the 2022 accusations whose charges were dropped:

“I never enter into the private lives of players”

“I never enter into the private lives of players. But what I can say is that he is a good person. He paid a high price for what happened. He arrived in the right environment and he performed well. He has a very withdrawn character. It saddens me what happened to him because I know a very different person from the one described in England. »

Sportingly, De Zerbi said he was satisfied, even if OM is struggling in C1: “Against Atalanta, he was one of those who played well, the same in Lisbon. (…) He is becoming an increasingly complete player. »
