Real Madrid are the latest club to target Borussia Dortmund striker Karim Adeyemi for a January transfer.

Manchester United and Arsenal have also been named among the suitors for the German international player, who is unhappy with his situation at his club due to strained relations with manager Niko Kovac.

Adeyemi had a public altercation with the coach during a match against Cologne, going so far as to throw a water bottle at him after he was substituted.

Currently in difficulty and free of any contract until 2027, its future is uncertain. Contract negotiations with Dortmund have stalled, with the striker demanding a release clause as part of a long-term deal, something the club are reluctant to grant him.

According to Fichajes, Real Madrid are now trying to take advantage of the situation by launching a surprise offer for the 23-year-old.

Unconvinced by the performances of Rodrygo and Brahim Diaz, Alonso told Florentino Pérez, president of the team, of his desire to recruit a right winger and set his sights on Adeyemi.

Jorge Mendes, the player’s agent, proposed him to the Real Madrid coach, who knows his qualities having seen him play in Germany.

A three-way battle with Manchester United and Arsenal therefore looms on the horizon. Adeyemi’s price tag is set at €80 million.

Why do Real Madrid see Adeyemi as an “ideal” recruit?

Adeyemi is seen as the perfect alternative to Franco Mastantuono on Real Madrid’s right flank. The German is a player capable of bringing dynamism, competitiveness and tactical versatility.

In addition, his signing would allow Real Madrid to part ways with certain players lacking playing time. Rodrygo and Brahim could leave the club, thus freeing up payroll, while the Merengues would gain offensive versatility. It remains to be seen how Kylian Mbappé would take this unexpected reinforcement…
