In recent weeks, Real Madrid, and more particularly its coach Xabi Alonso, have come under a lot of criticism.

These criticisms follow two consecutive disappointing results against Liverpool (1-0 defeat) and Rayo Vallecano (0-0), meetings where the Merengues seemed very harmless, particularly offensively.

Alonso reacted to these criticisms during his pre-match press conference, before the match against Elche. According to the daily AS, he made it clear that the external criticism had no impact on him or his players.

“We know where we are. We manage the requirements, we take them philosophically. We don’t give it more importance. »

Alonso’s start to the season has been generally successful.

Alonso then spoke about Real Madrid’s offensive struggles when asked if he was worried about Kylian Mbappé not having a single shot on target in the matches against Liverpool and Rayo.

Alonso also addressed Real Madrid’s offensive problems. “It’s a team effort. We analyzed it. It’s up to the team to progress. You also have to be effective on set pieces… The goals will come, I have no doubt. »

Alonso: You have to be mentally strong.

In recent months, there has been a lot of talk about Alonso’s ability to manage the Real Madrid dressing room. During his press conference, he addressed this topic, including how it fits with his tactical efforts.

“Both are important, given the current context. You have to be mentally strong and find the balance to avoid the emotional roller coaster after each match. You have to know how to dose. »

Alonso hopes a win at Elche on Sunday night will ease the pressure on him and his Real Madrid side. However, bagging all three points will be easier said than done.
