After more than two years of a long wait, Paul Pogba became a professional football player again. Saturday evening at Roazhon Park in Rennes where he was traveling with his Monaco team, the midfielder came on in the 85th minute of play. Despite the defeat (4-1), he expressed his joy at playing again and spoke of his declared goal: the 2026 World Cup. Bixente Lizarazu commented on the sequence.

The TF1 consultant was on the set of Téléfoot
this Sunday and he was questioned about this famous return. According to him, the road is still long and complicated. “It’s a new start for him. He will have to manage the increase in power, for his body to get used to the high level, to the succession of matches, to training every day even if he has been training for a while already. »

The 1998 world and 2000 European champion with the French team therefore remains cautious about the future. “Then there will be the gaze of others, because for the moment it is the pleasure of the supporters to see him play again after what he has experienced. And then afterwards, we will have to judge on performance. And then it’s his own look. Will he manage to be the Pogba from before or not? And will he accept being a little worse or not? »

Lizarazu and psychological difficulty

On this last point, Bixente Lizarazu did not hide his questions. “Psychologically, it’s not easy to approach. » Competitor at heart, Paul Pogba will certainly not give up on his goals and ambitions. It remains to be seen how his body will react over the weeks and months of competition.

The 2018 world champion still dreams of donning the tunic of a France team again whose jersey he last wore on March 29, 2022 during a friendly won against South Africa (5-0).
