Lucas Chevalier has finally come out of silence. Arriving at PSG this summer from Lille, the goalkeeper had a complicated start, marked by criticized performances and a controversy around an involuntary “like” on a pro-RN publication.
But Saturday evening, during the victory against Le Havre (3-0), the Parisian supporters warmly applauded him, a sign of a more peaceful climate. Back with international status after his tenure in Azerbaijan, Chevalier took advantage of his appearance on Téléfoot this Sunday to discuss the pressure linked to his new daily life and his role as successor to Gianluigi Donnarumma.
“They scrutinize me from A to Z”
The former Lille player assures that he has the shoulders to be PSG’s number 1, even if he recognizes that the demands are immense.
“My life has changed, I am scrutinized from A to Z and we also realize that it is merciless. I’m happy to go through this because it’s the highest level. I want to continue to progress and show that I am a great goalkeeper”he said.
Asked about the inevitable comparisons with Donnarumma, Chevalier remains calm. “The comparison? It’s not heavy at all but you just have to barricade yourself from everything around you. Because if you read what people say or try to analyze, you can’t move forward. You have to have confidence in yourself, I know what I am capable of and what I can give to PSG”specified the French goalkeeper.
