Elye Wahi experienced another complicated match with Eintracht Frankfurt against Cologne. Coming into play in the 78th minute, the French striker, already in difficulty in recent weeks, lost a very large number of duels and balls, sometimes remaining immobile or on the ground after his errors. His attitude exasperated his trainer Dino Toppmöller, furious on the sidelines. The latter then publicly pointed the finger at the entrants: “ In the end we obviously also have to talk about the players who came in and absolutely did not advocate for more playing time “, he said in a sentence widely interpreted as mainly aimed at Elye Wahi.

According to BildToppmöller is particularly annoyed by the number of chances granted that the Frenchman failed to seize, whether as a starter or by offering him numerous entries into play when the matches seemed under control. Wahi has too often disappointed and shown a blatant lack of commitment, to the point of losing the little credit he had left with the staff and the club environment. The German media also reports that the coach’s trust would now be completely broken, and that a separation this winter appears not only possible, but almost inevitable.
