Under fire from criticism since the start of the season, Lucas Chevalier was expected to turn the corner after this international break but also after the controversies concerning him on social networks.
During an interview given to Telefoot, the French international spoke about his debut at Paris Saint-Germain and the constant comparison with his predecessor Gigio Donnarumma.
“I know what I am capable of and what I can give to PSG. The comparison with Donnarumma? People take that as an example because I’m the one who goes right behind. Like the one who passes after me in Lille. It’s not heavy at all. You just have to barricade yourself from everything around you. If we start trying to read and analyze what people say, we won’t be able to move forward. You have to have confidence in yourself. In any case, I am confident for the future,” he said.
Luis Enrique liked Chevalier’s match
Since his arrival, Lucas Chevalier has alternated between good and bad in the Parisian cage. In front during his last outings, the Frenchman rectified his situation this Saturday evening against HAC at the Parc des Princes. The French international made a few saving saves which allowed the Parisians not to concede.
A performance which seduced Luis Enrique who maintains all his confidence in his goalkeeper. “We know the difficulty when you arrive at a club like Paris Saint-Germain, high level, for all the players. And if we remember what we saw with another goalkeeper or other players who arrived at Paris Saint-Germain, we are very happy with the players we signed. Lucas Chevalier, today he was sensational,” he said in a post-match press conference.
