After its victory at the Trojan leader before the international break (2-3), AS Saint-Etienne continued against Nancy (2-1), this Saturday in front of its audience at Geoffroy-Guichard, on behalf of the 15e day of Ligue 2. A success which allows the Greens to move into second place in the ranking, two lengths from Estac.

A victory which does a lot of good for the Stéphanois, but which was not to the taste of Eirik Horneland. The Norwegian coach even made a rant against the performance of his players after the match.

Horneland: “We have to be more regular and more serious”

“A very important victory? Yes, we needed these points but we also had to be able to show a good performance. In the second half, we were not at the level we needed to be, we should have killed the match, we were leading 2-0, we should have scored a third and a fourth goal. At the end of the match, we suffered. We were too slow at times, we sometimes lost the shape of our midfield », lamented Horneland.

And to add another layer: “We have been too far from each other. I think we played too wide. We weren’t serious enough, especially in the second half. I think we don’t have that consistency, in everything we do, in the game, in the attitude. When we play vertically, we do quite well and we show the football we love. When we become disorganized, we are worse off. We need to be more regular and more serious. »
