Arsenal got the better of Tottenham this Sunday at the Emirates Stadium, confirming historic domination over their London rivals. Spurs had not won at the Gunners’ den since December 2018 in the League Cup and since November 2010 in the Premier League.
The start of the match was sluggish but promising for Arsenal. From the third minute, Saka found Eze who served Rice, but the Mancunian midfielder’s shot was repelled by Vicario. The Gunners dominated possession and attempted to break through a well-grouped Tottenham defense.
The superiority of the locals was confirmed before half-time. In the 36th minute, Trossard opened the scoring with a deflected shot that deceived van de Ven and Vicario. A few minutes later, Eze doubled the lead after a defensive error from Danso, putting Arsenal two goals ahead before the break.
Eze rocks London
The second half got off to a flying start with Eze scoring the third goal from the restart. However, Tottenham managed to reduce the gap in the 55th minute thanks to a sublime lob from Richarlison, which slightly awakened Spurs. But despite some sharper incursions, the Londoners failed to worry the Gunners defense.
Arsenal left no doubt about their superiority. In the 76th minute, Eze scored his hat-trick, sealing the score at 4-1 after a superb serve from Trossard. The Gunners won largely in this derby (4-1) and confirmed their status as Premier League boss this season. Arsenal extend the gap with Chelsea, their next opponent, to six points.
