Called into the Monegasque group for the first time this season, Paul Pogba, replacing at kick-off, made his big debut in Ligue 1 this Saturday on the pitch at Stade Rennais. And that’s pretty much the only good news of the evening for ASM.

Rennes in fact inflicted a heavy setback on the Principality club in this 13th round of the championship (4-1), carried by Abdelhamid Ait Boudlal (20th), Mahdi Camara (48th), Breel Embolo (73rd), like a symbol, and Ludovic Blas (83rd from the penalty spot). Mika Biereth still put an end to his personal drought at the end of the match on the Monegasque side (90th+5).

Three in a row for Rennes and Monaco

Launched in the 85th minute when the chips were down, Paul Pogba had enough time to gratify an enthusiastic Breton public upon his entry into play with some well-felt initiatives. Leadership that promises to do good, over time, for the Rocher club. Provided of course that the person concerned can finally continue, he who had not played in an official match since September 2023.

In the meantime, ASM is in trouble, weighed down by a third defeat in a row and now relegated to at least eight lengths from the summit temporarily occupied by OM and RC Lens. Rennes, on the other hand, can enjoy a third consecutive success synonymous with provisional fifth place. With one more point on the clock than Monaco.
