Stade Rennais hosted AS Monaco this Saturday evening for the 13th day of Ligue 1. In the 20th minute of the match, the locals opened the scoring. Abdelhamid Aït-Boudlal found the net with a thigh shot from a cross from Mahdi Camara (1-0).

Returning from the locker room, the Rennes doubled their lead. On a distant attempt by Mousa Al-Tamari repelled by Lukas Hradecky, Camara headed again to send the ball into the empty goal (2-0, 48th). Habib Beye’s gang continued to plant their banderillas in this second period.

Embolo and Blas seal success, Pogba makes his return

Before the last quarter of an hour, Breel Embolo added to the score. Receiving a cross from Przemyslaw Frankowski, the Swiss striker headed past Hradecky (3-0, 73rd). Ludovic Blas came to drive the point home ten minutes later. With a powerful left-footed strike, the former Nantes player perfectly converted the penalty conceded by the Asemists (4-0).

The visitors reduced the score at the very end of the match thanks to Mika Biereth. The Dane won his duel against Brice Samba with a low shot in added time (4-1, 90’+5). Despite the heavy defeat, a slight improvement still appeared for AS Monaco, the long-awaited return of Paul Pogba, who entered to play five short minutes.
