This Thursday the second round of bidding for the Champions League tender was held. At the end of this phase, covering the 2027-2031 cycle, Canal+ managed to retain all of its TV rights for Europe’s premier competition, despite strong competition from streaming platforms.

According to The Teamthe encrypted channel will continue to broadcast the posters for Tuesday and Wednesday, as well as the final, despite its unencrypted broadcast. The Youth League, magazines, match summaries and extracts published on social networks are also part of the package. A success against Paramount and beIN Sports.

UEFA aims for the 5 billion mark

At the same time, Canal+ retains control over the Europa League and the Conference League. The financial details of the new contract have not been revealed, but our colleagues specify that the amount is slightly lower than the current 480 million euros per season.

For the moment, the revenue generated by UEFA thanks to these three European competitions amounts to 4.4 billion euros per season, including 3.6 billion for the Champions League alone. The objective of these auctions is therefore to exceed, over the next four-year cycle, the 5 billion mark.
