Doctor of the French team since 2012, Franck Le Gall (in a chasuble in the photo) was invited to appear before the 17th investigating chamber of the Paris court, as part of the Deschamps-Riolo trial. It was in fact the latter who diagnosed Karim Benzema’s injury just before the start of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar after having the player undergo an MRI at the Aspetar center in Doha. A clinic run by Hakim Chalibi, who is also head of the Paris Saint-Germain medical team. And if Mr. Le Gall was invited to react, it is because of the version given by Daniel Riolo. The RMC columnist assured that Descamps had lied and that Benzema could have played the 2022 World Cup, after having had a discussion with Doctor Chalabi, who would have mentioned to him a less serious injury than that announced by Le Gall. A version which had the gift of provoking the ire of the Blues doctor.

“I have the right not to trust Aspetar and Chalabi, we have the impression that they invented medicine. 50 years ago, Qatar was a rock. Chalabi is no longer a reference. It’s not the good Lord, like Aspetar. We are being taken down by PSG over medical stories that have no place”he declared, before settling scores with PSG after the recent controversies over the injuries of Ousmane Dembélé and Désiré Doué. “I don’t have any images, I don’t have an MRI, they stay with us while PSG declares them injured. He was hit on the left, he got hurt on the right, it’s no luck. PSG played Désiré Doué three games in a row while he was coming back from injury, he was torn and we didn’t hear anything more from the PSG medical unit. Same for Ousmane Dembélé. There are double standards”he confided in comments relayed by The Parisian.
