The near future of Antoine Griezmann still seems to be with Atlético Madrid. While rumors sent him to Major League Soccer last season, the French striker finally extended his contract last summer, tying him to the club until June 2027.
This season, the 2018 world champion has nevertheless experienced a slight downgrade in the hierarchy of attackers.
His status remains intact within the locker roombut his playing time has decreased somewhat. However, this does not prevent him from still displaying great ambitions with his favorite club.
Griezmann’s focus
“Why did I extend it? Because I want more. I still have a lot of playing time ahead of me, still the energy and the mentality to play and be an important player for the club. I know I have to prove it to everyone, and I want to be even bigger. And then, we’ll see in a few years about the title or legendary status”he confided in the columns ofAS.
Griezmann is not closing the door to a new extension with Atlético, despite his stated desire to one day discover the North American championship. “If the rumors hurt me? No. In the end, people always talked about me. From the time I arrive on the first day until the last day I leave, this will always be the case. But, like I said, I feel very good here. Everyone knows that MLS is my dream, my goal, but I still have a contract here, I want to extend it and stay important”said the Mâconnais.
