This is the particularly incredible story of Miladin Prso, nicknamed Dado. This great striker from Zadar, on the shores of the Adriatic Sea, did not sign professionally for Hajduk Split, a historic club in Croatia, due to a heart problem. At the age of 18, when the war broke out in Yugoslavia, he left his country to land at FC Rouen, in French D2. Injured, Prso gained weight and, with his new Norman partner, moved to the Var, where he became a florist or mechanic (according to different sources).
Dado Prso only played in National 2, with the Saint-Raphaël club, when he caught the eye of the staff of the AS Monaco reserve team. He signed a trainee contract there, at the age of 21, to play with the B, alongside a center forward from Argentina named… David Trezeguet. It was finally in Ligue 2 that Prso exploded, on loan to AC Ajaccio during the 1998-1999 season (13 goals in 31 matches). Which allowed him to become the understudy of “Trezegol” then Shabani Nonda.
“The Croatian colossus with surgical precision”as the ASM site describes it to celebrate the 51st birthday of the person concerned, became a striking force of Didier Deschamps’ team from 2002, notably during the magnificent run of the Rouge et Blanc until the final of the 2004 Champions League (lost 3-0 against JosĂ© Mourinho’s FC Porto). Prso scored 7 goals in 11 matches during this superb European adventure.

On November 5, 2003, in the group stage, ASM and Dado Prso offered an XXL spectacle to the Louis-II public against Depor. On his 30th birthday, the striker scored his first two headed goals before converting serves from Ludovic Giuly and Jérôme Rothen.
