The news is good for Canal+. UEFA seems to have found its broadcaster in France for the Champions League from 2027, and for potentially four seasons. The body had put pressure on with a call for tenders launched simultaneously in the five largest European markets, suggesting the possible arrival of a new player in France.

Yet, The Team reveals that at the end of the second round of bidding, this Thursday, the encrypted channel managed to retain the TV rights to the competition. For the 2027-2031 cycle, Canal+ is thus keeping the entire Champions League, including the two best posters, that of Tuesday and that of Wednesday, as well as the final of the competition which must benefit from unencrypted broadcasting.

Canal+ pays a little less

But the victory doesn’t stop there. With all the other meetings, the Canal+ group obtains the Youth League, as well as the magazines, summaries and extracts broadcast on social networks. The encrypted channel retains as a bonus the two other European Cups, the Europa League and the Conference League.

Everything came down to Paramount and historic partner beIN Sports. The exact amount has not been filtered, but it would be slightly lower than the 480 million euros per season currently paid. With this sale, UEFA is getting closer to its objective of exceeding 5 billion euros in annual revenue across all of its competitions.
