Barça: details of Besiktas’ offer for ter Stegen

The situation of Marc-André ter Stegen at FC Barcelona takes a decisive turn as the winter transfer window approaches. The 33-year-old German goalkeeper, recovering from his injury, could be allowed to leave the club in January if a convincing offer arises. And that’s good since the first official proposal has arrived: Besiktas is offering a loan to fully cover his salary until the end of the season, accompanied by a purchase option of 8 million euros according to Sport. Indeed, the Turkish club, faced with the difficulties of its veteran goalkeeper Mert Günok, considers ter Stegen as the ideal solution to stabilize its goalkeeper position.

The sporting director of Besiktas, Eduard Graf, formerly of Dortmund, plays a central role in the discussions and tries to convince the goalkeeper that the Turkish club is the perfect setting to obtain regular playing time and take on a leadership role. The German, whose contract runs until 2028, remains attached to Barça, but the loan appears to be a pragmatic solution to remain competitive in the German national team for the next World Cup.
