When Didier Deschamps appeared at a press conference last Saturday, on the eve of the last qualifying match for the 2026 World Cup that the Blues were going to play the next day in Azerbaijan, he explained his choice to release Kylian Mbappé. The coach spoke of a need for the Real Madrid player to rest his painful ankle. A version which has caused a lot of reaction since and this Tuesday, the controversy rebounded.

In question, photos and videos taken of Kylian Mbappé who did not return to Madrid but rather left for Dubai. A trip which does not prevent the Bondynois from being really embarrassed by this famous right ankle, but after Real Madrid indicated that they would very likely field their player on November 23 against Elche, this little trip to Dubai is once again the talk of the town.

While the rest of the French group was in Baku, the captain went to rest and that did not please everyone. The question divided the former internationals who became consultants and the voice of Bixente Lizarazu, who defended Didier Deschamps, seemed a little isolated. Kylian Mbappé in any case had a good time during his trip and he didn’t seem to really hide it.

A long journey for Kylian Mbappé

He notably posed with the members of a padel club and the photo was relayed on his social networks by the money changer Dadju. In any case, it is above all the communication around the absence of Kylian Mbappé in Azerbaijan which risks causing debate. As a year ago during the episode of his trip to Sweden, the hypothesis of a diplomatic injury is raised. Observers understand that the French striker needed to rest, but whether the reason given for his absence may not be the right one is much less obvious.

In the meantime, with this trip, Kylian Mbappé spent much more time on the plane than most of his comrades from the France team (Théo and Lucas Hernandez also passed through Dubai this Monday, as reported by RMC). They will surely have an opinion on this episode.
