Lucas Chevalier’s first steps at PSG and the French team are proving particularly difficult and causing concern among observers.

Since his arrival at Paris Saint-Germain from LOSC last summer, Lucas Chevalier has struggled to justify the investment made for him, as well as the sacrifice that his recruitment entailed. The capital club not only paid 55 million, bonus included, to secure the services of the French goalkeeper, but also pushed out Gianluigi Donnarumma, who had held the number one position for more than three seasons.

However, the Pas-de-Calaisien is far from making the hoped-for debut in the Rouge et Bleu jersey. A complicated period which also has repercussions on the French team. This Sunday, during his first start against Azerbaijan (3-1), Chevalier became the fastest goalkeeper to concede his first goal with the Blues since February 17, 1935. At the time, during a friendly match lost to Italy (1-2), René Llense conceded a goal after four minutes, like Chevalier.

“We are still waiting for an exploit”

In a video published on his YouTube channel, Pierre Ménès, former Canal+ columnist, commented on the latest performance of the new PSG recruit. Without minimizing the difficulties encountered by Chevalier, he nevertheless cleared the goalkeeper of the goal conceded: “I can not rate him, I can give him 5, since he conceded a goal. He is in his statistics from the start of the season with PSG, that is to say one shot on target, one goal. But on this one, he can’t do much.”he explained.

The former consultant of the encrypted channel nevertheless remains lucid about the level displayed by Chevalier. “We are still waiting for a feat from Chevalier at the start of the season. This is starting to get a little worrying,” he concluded.
