Heading into next summer, one of the biggest hot topics at FC Barcelona will be the future of their star striker, Robert Lewandowski.

The 37-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and, although a departure is expected, he would be happy to extend his stay in Catalonia for another year or two.

For now, Lewandowski is fully focused on the present: the end of the season with Barça. In an interview with TVP Sport (via MD), he said that no decision regarding his future would be made for several months.

“I am calm. I don’t know where I will be or what I want to do in a few months. I have no obligations and I’m in no rush. Soon I will be ready to decide which path to take and consider my options. »

Lewandowski could play his last season at FC Barcelona.

Lewandowski: FC Barcelona’s future in good hands

Lewandowski is the veteran of the FC Barcelona squad, and he is an exception. Hansi Flick’s squad is largely made up of young players, and the Poland international has made it clear that this will be a valuable asset to the club in the years to come.

“I am very happy to know that there are a lot of young people in Barcelona. They give me a boost of energy. I feel very good among them. I remember my teenage years and what I did when they were their age. I’m older than some of my teammates’ parents. They treat me like a father. It’s fun, but very positive. »

It remains to be seen whether this will be Lewandowski’s last season at FC Barcelona. He has provided valuable services to the Catalan club since his arrival from Bayern Munich in 2022. So, when he decides to leave, he will be warmly welcomed.
