As always in Barcelona, rumors of upcoming transfers are rife, and Robert Lewandowski is undoubtedly the center of all attention.

The Polish striker, at the end of his contract next summer, is faced with many questions about his future.

The 37-year-old has said he is not looking too far beyond the end of the season, while most Barcelona journalists seem convinced of his departure. That would leave a void on offense, a position few believe can be fully filled with Ferran Torres. Harry Kane’s name has been regularly bandied about as a potential solution recently, with the England international reportedly interested in a move to Barcelona.

FC Barcelona believes that a reinforcement at the number nine striker position is possible.

Lewandowski’s future after this season is uncertain.

The question that has come up constantly for five years is whether Barça’s salary cap would allow such a transfer. According to MD, the economic department believes that a major recruit is possible, under certain conditions. The first is the departure of Lewandowski, whose salary would represent 40 million euros of FC Barcelona’s salary cap.

The second is Barça’s return to the so-called “1:1” rule, which concretely means that it could spend with fewer restrictions if its payroll remains below the authorized ceiling. A crucial element would be the payment of the remaining 30 million euros due under the lease of the VIP seats, scheduled for December, although the audit firm Crowe has not yet counted them. Another important factor: the return of FC Barcelona to the Camp Nou, which would increase its revenue on match days.

As for who could benefit from this salary margin, the “impossible dream” would be Manchester City’s Erling Haaland, out of the club’s financial reach. Julian Alvarez from Atlético Madrid is also a player coveted by FC Barcelona, but his acquisition also seems too expensive. More affordable options include Kane, Serhou Guirassy (Borussia Dortmund), Karl Etta Eyong (Levante) and Victor Osimhen (Galatasaray).

Most Barça fans will greet this news with skepticism; Over the past three summers, the club has publicly and privately announced that it has increased financial capacity. Recent signings Joan Garcia, Dani Olmo, Marcus Rashford and others have benefited from the emergency injury clause to be registered.
