PSG wants to catch up. Very little activity during the last summer transfer window, the capital club was content to recruit Renato Marin, Lucas Chevalier and Illya Zabarnyi. The situation could change next summer. The reigning European champion wants to re-oxygenate his squad and bring more competition to the players already in place, to remain competitive on all counts.
Future transfers would mainly concern the midfield, where Joao Neves, Vitinha and Fabian Ruiz have become essential, but also the attack, particularly affected by injuries this first half of the season. Paris Saint-Germain is clearly aiming hard to strengthen its offensive sector and give itself the means to achieve its ambitions.
According to Sky SportParisian leaders have ticked Julian Alvarez off their list. The Argentine striker from Atlético de Madrid would be unanimous within the club and is considered the top priority for summer recruitment. It’s a profile that Luis Enrique knows and particularly appreciates.
120 million euros on the table
The interest seems mutual. According to transfer journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Alvarez would welcome a transfer to PSG, to a more offensive team than Atlético and where he could express himself more.
The main obstacle, however, remains the cost of the transfer. Atlético de Madrid would demand up to 120 million euros to release their striker. If the negotiations are successful, it would be a masterstroke for PSG, and a notable loss for Antoine Griezmann’s Atlético, deprived of a key element of its attack.
