Portugal is currently facing Armenia, on the last day of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup. Without Cristiano Ronaldo, suspended against Ireland after elbowing an opponent, the Seleção das Quinas opened the scoring early before conceding the equalizer. The Parisians Gonçalo Ramos and João Neves then quickly restored the advantage to theirs with two goals in quick succession.

Lined up from the start, the 24-year-old striker intercepted a bad back pass from Artur Serobyan in the area, eliminated the goalkeeper with a check and finished in the empty goal with his left foot. For his part, the midfielder took advantage of a delivery from Bruno Fernandes to strike on a half-volley in front of the area, scoring his first goal in the colors of Portugal. The former Benfica player did it again ten minutes later by converting a free kick with a sublime curling shot from the right, which rounded the wall and hit the crossbar before ending up at the bottom. With a score of 5-1 at the break, Portugal is almost officially qualified for the next World Cup.
