Benjamin Pavard does not give up. Loaned this summer by Inter Milan to Olympique de Marseille, the defender is going through a complicated period. After his involvement in the two goals conceded against Sporting (1-2) in the Champions League, the 2018 world champion sank again against Lens (1-2) by conceding a penalty then an own goal.
But the international tricolor intends to pull itself together. Today, he says he is more determined than ever to win titles with the Phocaeans. Even if everything is not yet perfect for him at Canebière, Pavard says he wants to play a major role in OM’s quest for titles, currently neck and neck with PSG in Ligue 1.
Invited on the club’s Twitch channel, the defender clarified his ambitions under the Marseille tunic. “I want to win a title, or even two. We have the players for it, we have the public too. They’ve been waiting to win something for a long time, so we have to give it our all on the pitch.”he says.
Pavard talks behind the scenes
In the process, Pavard spoke of the state of mind in the locker room, which he considers impeccable. “As someone who is there every day, I can say that we are not giving up, we are paying close attention to detail, there will be down moments, we must not give up. There will be important matches to play, a Champions Trophy also in January. I want to win with Marseille”he insists.
Deadlines come quickly. Two points behind PSG, OM will return to Ligue 1 after the international break with a perilous trip to Nice on the 13th day. The Phocéens will then continue with the reception of Newcastle in the Champions League, where a victory would be crucial to maintain a chance of qualification.
