After Ilan Kebbal in August and Florian Thauvin in September, it was Mason Greenwood who was elected this Sunday best player of the month of October in Ligue 1 at the UNFP Trophies. The Olympique de Marseille striker was in competition with Sofiane Diop and Joaquin Panichelli. Already a winner twice last season, the former Manchester United player is becoming a regular at this award.

For this month of October, a real scorers’ duel was proposed to voters. With Nice’s Sofiane Diop, his five goals and one assist in four games. The top scorer in Ligue 1, Strasbourg’s Joaquin Panichelli, author of six goals in the same period. And finally Mason Greenwood with five goals, including a quadruple scored against Le Havre.

And it was therefore the OM player who finished first with 38% of the votes. Currently second top scorer in the French championship with eight goals and three assists, Mason Greenwood is still a determining element of the team coached by Roberto De Zerbi.

Not yet sharp enough during major meetings, the Englishman nevertheless continues to score regularly. Important for OM who are struggling at the top of the rankings and are only two points behind Paris Saint-Germain. After twelve days and a little over a third of the season now behind it, the Marseille club can still believe in a first championship title since that of 2010.

But since the road is still very long and there are many pitfalls, Marseille hopes that Mason Greenwood will continue to score goals, and why not the titles of best player of the month.
