FC Barcelona will probably move on from Robert Lewandowski at the end of the season and the Pole’s contract. This is the trend of the moment even if the former Bavarian has the possibility, in agreement with the club, of activating an option to extend for one season. The veil will soon be officially lifted. “I am calm. I don’t know where I will be or what I want to do in a few months. I don’t have to do anything urgently and I’m in no hurry» explained the player in the last few hours since his selection.

It will soon be time for his succession. Names have already been mentioned a few days ago, notably that of Harry Kane. The Englishman would even be seen as the priority of management. He has a release clause of €65 million with Bayern and is very popular with Hansi Flick. He ticks all the boxes but you still need to be able to finance his arrival. This is often where the problem lies with Barça. However, according to Mundo Deportivothe Blaugranas will have the means next summer to attract a top number 9.

Financing a big 9 is possible

It’s even quite simple. The departure of Lewandowski will free up €40 million in payroll (salaries and charges included). A plump envelope which will allow Barça to easily comply with the 1:1 rule in connection with La Liga financial fair play. The growth of certain revenues also, in particular thanks to the upcoming reopening of the Nou Camp, the sale of VIP spaces, and contracts linked to different brands and commercial companies should allow the financing of such an operation.

From this perspective, money coming from sports competitions, especially the Champions League, is also a plus. If Erling Haaland will remain an unattainable dream for Joan Laporta and Deco, other top attackers can fill the void left by the departure of Lewandowski. Besides Harry Kane, the other leads are Julian Alvarez (25 years old) from Atlético de Madrid, Serhou Guirassy (29 years old) from Borussia Dortmund, and Victor Osimhen (26 years old) from Galatasaray. Etta Eyong is also an alternative, but at a lower cost.
