Real Madrid striker Endrick Felipe is set to leave the club in January, and Chelsea are emerging as a surprising option to sign him.

The 19-year-old has played very little for the Whites under Xabi Alonso and is keen to get more playing time.

Although Endrick missed the first month of the season, he has been fit for two months, and Alonso has only given him 11 minutes of play so far. With Brazilian coach Carlo Ancelotti having publicly declared that he had to play to be selected for the World Cup with the Seleção, Endrick appears tired of waiting for his chance at the Bernabéu, almost 18 months after his arrival in Spain.

Chelsea surprises with Endrick

According to Cadena SER, Chelsea emerge as a surprising option for Endrick in January. Real Madrid were close to reaching a deal with Olympique Lyonnais for a loan deal for Endrick, and the player agreed. Chelsea inquired about his situation in January, with Real Madrid willing to loan him until the end of the season. Endrick is now considering his options again.

A transfer to Olympique Lyonnais still on the table

That said, a transfer to Lyon remains the most likely outcome. Competition at Stamford Bridge reduces Chelsea’s chances, but it should not be forgotten that the Blues were already in the running with Real Madrid for his signature when he played at Palmeiras. Furthermore, Canal+ (via Sport) revealed some details of the proposed loan to Lyon, which would cost the French club €800,000. The outlet also states that a financial penalty would be applied if Endrick does not reach 25 appearances, thus incentivizing him to play more. In addition, the Merengues would have a recall clause until January 15 in the event of serious injury to one of their attackers.
