Qualified for the 2026 World Cup after its great success against Ukraine (4-0), the French team can now fully plan towards an unprecedented preparation, marked by a World Cup organized in the United States, Mexico and Canada. As explained The Teamthe Blues will know their group and the cities where they will play on December 5, a determining element in setting the base camp. The FFF has been working for several months to identify the ideal location among the 65 options proposed by FIFA, with a marked preference for the United States. Didier Deschamps’ staff favors a modern, simple and functional framework, like the Doha model in 2022. Mexico and Canada are almost excluded: too few matches would be played there according to the first projections. A delegation from the FFF will tour the facilities after the draw, before the coach definitively validates the selected site before January 9, as required by FIFA.

At the same time, France is also preparing its pre-World Cup program. The Blues will only meet again in March for the first two friendlies, then will play two new matches between June 1 and 9. These latest tests could take place directly in the United States to anticipate the heat, long journeys and time difference, an option which would be favored by Didier Deschamps. The FFF is particularly studying the possibility of facing Brazil and the United States, two opponents considered to calibrate the group before entering the World Cup.
