Back in the colors of the France team for the first time since November 2024, N’Golo Kanté delivered a great performance this Thursday against Ukraine (4-0). Aligned in midfield alongside Manu Koné, he was not stingy with his efforts, as usual, participating in the qualification of the Blues for the next 2026 World Cup.
And yet, the presence of the former Chelsea player for the World Cup is far from assured. Questioned on this subject, his captain Kylian Mbappé confessed his uncertainty, without however denying the undeniable contribution of his teammate and executive of the French selection.
“It’s always an asset of choice”
“I don’t know if he’s going to go, I’m not a coach. But N’Golo is a special player. I think that in the history of the France team, he is an important player. We are very happy to have him with us, we will see if he will be selected, but if he is selected, he is always a valuable asset”judged the Real Madrid striker.
If he were to be summoned for the tournament organized by the United States, Canada and Mexico, Kanté would play his fifth major competition with the Blues. Absent in Qatar in 2022, he has taken part in all the other major meetings since his debut in EDF in March 2016.
