Zinédine Zidane has never hidden his desire to return to the sidelines, and he recently reiterated his intention on the sidelines of a charity match: “Soon I’m going to coach. »
Although he did not specify which team he would target, the succession of Didier Deschamps at the head of the France team, after the 2026 World Cup, already seems written. According to the Spanish daily Mundo Deportivo“Zizou” is already thinking about the composition of his future French staff.

The Frenchman would like to surround himself with two of his loyal colleagues from Real Madrid. First David Bettoni, his assistant during his two stints at Casa Blanca between 2016 and 2018, then from 2019 to 2021. Bettoni, who has since embarked on personal projects, should regain his role as right-hand man when Zidane takes charge of the Blues.

The other key member being considered is Hamidou Msaidie. At Real Madrid, he was described as an essential player in the Valdebebas rehabilitation center, combining several functions: rehabilitation specialist, psychologist and technical support. Bettoni himself had played a central role in his presence with Zidane, and his influence with the players would be a valuable asset to the France team.

A contract without a fixed duration

Zidane could benefit from great freedom of maneuver. Always according to Mundo Deportivohe would have the possibility of signing a contract without fixed duration and composing his staff as he wishes. The French Football Federation would be ready to give him carte blanche, thus offering him total confidence to implement his sporting project.

Since his departure from Real Madrid in 2021, Zidane remains free from any commitment. The timing seems ideal for the former Blues playmaker: Didier Deschamps has already announced that he will leave the position after the 2026 World Cup. The former world champion could thus take over the reins of the national team with his trusted staff next summer.
