The first semi-final of the African qualifying play-offs for the intercontinental play-off of the 2026 World Cup will pit Nigeria against Gabon. The Super Eagles missed direct qualification by a whisker, finishing one point behind South Africa in Group C. They will have no room for error if they want to reach the African play-off final.

For its part, Gabon, led by Marseillais Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, has the ambition to create a surprise. The Panthers also narrowly failed to qualify directly, leaving Ivory Coast to take first place in Group F with just a one point lead. The verdict will fall this Thursday from 5 p.m.
