Former Manchester United player Axel Tuanzebe has launched a £1 million (approximately €1,133,000) legal case against his former club for “medical negligence” according to the Daily Mail. The defender, now at Burnley, claims that the management of his injuries at Old Trafford caused serious and lasting physical problems, preventing him from playing “without restriction or embarrassment”. The player, trained at the Manchester United training center since the age of 8 and turned professional in January 2017, suffered several major injuries, including a lower back fracture in January 2020 which would have become chronic in July 2022 after a new fracture on the opposite side.
In his complaint filed with the High Court in July, Tuanzebe and his legal team allege the lack of adequate rest and referral to a specialist in sports spine surgery when the injury first occurred. According to them, appropriate treatment could have avoided the chronicity of his injury and allowed him to continue his professional career at the highest level without restriction. To be continued…
