AC Milan, Dortmund, Arsenal, FC Barcelona, Chelsea: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has played for some of the biggest European clubs during his career. The Gabonese striker (36 years old), who is now enjoying the heyday of OM in Ligue 1, was particularly popular with the Gunners, where he played from 2018 to 2022, with 92 goals in 163 matches.

Also the supporters of the London club did not understand his decision to join the great rivals of the Blues, in September 2022, after an eventful six-month stint at Barça. A signing that he also regrets today. “It was a big mistake to go there. It was a big fucking mistake,” admits the current Marseille striker in the podcast Troopz.

Aubameyang found a smile again at OM

“At that time, I was going through a bad time at Barcelona. I was the victim of a burglary at my home and Barça had to sell a player, me or Memphis (Depay). And the only offer on the table was Chelsea, he remembers. So I said to myself: ‘Okay, for my family I’m going to move, even if it’s to Chelsea.’ » Where the mayonnaise never really took hold.

“I thought maybe it could work, Olivier Giroud went from Arsenal to Chelsea without a problem, but for me it was different,” explains the native of Laval who, after just one season at Stamford Bridge, was seduced by the project presented to him by Pablo Longoria. A transfer that he does not regret since he returned to OM after a one-year break in Saudi Arabia.
