PSG, OL, OM, RC Lens: new tensions behind the scenes!

French football has been going through quite a zone of turbulence for years now. Between problems with broadcasters linked to the sale of TV rights, the famous CVC affair, and disagreements everywhere between all the players in sport, we can say that behind the scenes, Ligue 1 is a real battlefield. The recent clashes between Nasser al-Khelaïfi and Joseph Oughourlian (RC Lens) or John Textor (OL) over TV rights are very good examples.

The Foot Unis union, the result of the merger between the Premier League unions and the Union of Professional Football Clubs, aimed precisely to bring the clubs together and give them strength in discussions with the League, the Federation and the Public Authorities in particular. Last June, Victoriano Melero, the CEO of Paris Saint-Germain, was elected president of Foot Unis, taking over from Laurent Nicollin. What to ease tensions between clubs? Not necessarily…

Clubs sidelined

As indicated RMC Sportthe Ligue 1 college this Wednesday risks still being marked by strong tensions. Some presidents of Ligue 1 clubs are therefore surprised not to have been invited to several recent meetings dealing with the future of football in the country, notably last October. And these are not minor clubs, since we find among them RC Lens, Stade Rennais, Paris FC as well as Olympique Lyonnais and Olympique de Marseille.

A sidelining which inevitably displeased the leaders of the clubs concerned, who sent a letter to the union to demand accountability. They will also be present during the college this Wednesday, where the situation promises to be tense, with clans being created little by little among the leaders.
