Lionel Messi’s Parisian adventure, between 2021 and 2023, was not the most enjoyable for the Argentinian. Despite two French championships won with Paris Saint-Germain, the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner has, in the past, criticized his time in the French capital. La Pulga had notably said that he never wanted to go to Paris, a few weeks after his departure from the Parisian club. In an exclusive interview for Sporthowever, he insisted on backpedaling.

It seems like Paris was hell, but it wasn’t. When I say that I didn’t feel good, it’s because I didn’t feel good in what I was doing and in what I love to do, playing football, on a daily basis, in training, in matches, but because I didn’t feel well. But afterward, in truth, we had a very good experience as a family, the city is spectacular, we enjoyed ithe said. It was the first time we left Barcelona and everything was new for us, that’s why it was very difficult, because it wasn’t an injury, but that’s how things happened. The truth is that I didn’t feel good on a daily basis with what I love to do. And here (in Miami), we are doing well, we are enjoying the city, everyday life. It’s a very similar life to the one I had in Castelldefels, with the club nearby, the children’s school nearby too, everything within reach, it’s practical. We live far from the city, because the truth is, Miami is beautiful, but traffic-wise it’s a pain. »
