Youcef Belaïli, the disaster

Youcef Belaïli will not play in the African Cup of Nations, organized by Morocco between December 21, 2025 and January 18, 2026.

On Sunday, the Algerian international suffered a ruptured cruciate ligament in his right knee during the derby between Esperance Tunis and Club Africain (0-0), according to Tunisian media Mosaic FM Radio. It was a tackle suffered in the 21st minute of play in this match which caused this injury.

“The Algerian Football Federation, chaired by Mr. Walid Sadi, as well as the entire staff of the national team led by coach Vladimir Petkovic, wish a speedy recovery to our international player Youcef Belaïli”we can read in a press release published on the FAF website.

In addition to the next CAN, Youcef Belaïli will not be able to take part in the Arab Cup. This competition, which will take place in Qatar from December 1 to 18, concerns the Fennecs “A’”. The former Angers, Stade Brestois and Ajaccio player, however, was not guaranteed to take part in these events.

Indeed, the one who has a total of 59 selections with the Greens (ten goals scored) was not one of the 27 players summoned by Vladimir Petkovic for the gathering this November. Algeria will soon play two friendly matches, on November 13 against Zimbabwe, and on November 18 against Saudi Arabia.
