Victorious over OM, Atalanta adrift in Serie A

His success on Wednesday evening at Olympique de Marseille (0-1), during the fourth day of the Champions League league phase, was only a small glimmer in a desert of poor results. Back to business as usual, Atalanta Bergamo fell again this Sunday in Serie A, this time beaten at home by promoted Sassuolo (0-3, 11th day).

The Dea is definitely not there this season. The years of splendor experienced under the leadership of Gian Piero Gasperini now seem very distant. This setback against Sassuolo is the club’s seventh consecutive match without a victory in Serie A (2 defeats and 5 draws). Atalanta’s last two matches were lost with no goals scored and four conceded.

The red zone is getting closer for Atalanta

This Sunday, the visitors found the fault three times: a double from Domenico Berardi (29th and 66th) who turned into a passer on the third goal signed Andrea Pinamonti (47th). Enough to allow Sassuolo to overtake its victim of the day in the provisional ranking to find itself eighth.

Atalanta continues to dive and finds itself thirteenth with thirteen points. The cushion protecting it from the red zone is still thick with a seven-point lead over Genoa, currently eighteenth. But if the spiral is not stopped quickly, the alarm bells should ring a little louder.
