Atalanta is going through a delicate period under the leadership of Ivan Juric. After 11 days, the Bergamasques have only collected 13 points, a historically low total since the Gasperini era. The latter, even during his most difficult starts (2017/18 and 2018/19), had always reached at least 15 points at this stage of the season. Comparisons are therefore inevitable, especially since Juric has inherited a heavy heritage and is struggling to impose his mark on a team in search of identity and consistency.
To find such a disappointing start to the season, we have to go back to 2014/15, or 11 years, when Atalanta of Stefano Colantuono then Reja only collected 10 points after 11 games, finishing the season in 17th place. If the scenario of a fight to maintain itself seems unlikely today, a start is quickly necessary. The club will have to react without delay to prevent the results crisis from taking root and further threatening Juric’s position.
