Nothing is going well for Atalanta. Humiliated at home by Sassuolo (0-3) at the New Balance Arena, Dea conceded its second consecutive defeat in Serie A, confirming a worrying slump. Ivan Jurić’s men, totally overwhelmed in the intensity and transitions, suffered the law of a perfectly organized Sassuolo, carried by a clinical Domenico Berardi and a rediscovered Andrea Pinamonti. The Italian opened the scoring from the penalty spot (29th) before Pinamonti doubled the lead upon returning from the locker room (47th). Berardi then hit the nail on the head in the 66th minute, sealing an uncontested victory. This new setback plunges Atalanta further into turmoil. The Lombard club slips to 13th place in the standings, with only 2 goals scored in the last five matches. The Dea fans did not hesitate to launch a chorus of boos at the final whistle.

Despite a convincing victory in the Champions League against Olympique de Marseille in midweek, the dynamic in the league remains catastrophic. The former Torino tactician is no longer able to find the right formula, and the Dea seems to have lost the offensive identity which was its strength under Gasperini. Internally, the climate is just as tense with friction between Ivan Jurić and certain locker room executives, notably Ademola Lookman and goalkeeper Marco Carnesecchi. The Croatian coach would criticize a lack of involvement and discipline, while certain players denounce methods that are too rigid. With a team losing its bearings, a silent attack and a fractured locker room, Atalanta seems more than ever in crisis. The next trip to Campania against Napoli could already resemble a match of fear for Jurić, whose position is weakening week after week.
